Historically, Azerbaijan has gained fame as a country of longevity. The geographical climatic conditions of our country, the healthy lifestyle of our people, and the unique family and household features have become an example for all the peoples living here and created the basis for a peaceful life for them. The air, water, land and natural benefits of Azerbaijan have constantly strengthened the love of life and the love of the people living here for the Motherland. Our great leader Heydar Aliyev has always cared about the Azerbaijanis and all nationalities living in Azerbaijan. In his order No. 596 of January 26, 2001 “On the action plan for the meeting of the XXI century, the third millennium”, along with a number of events, the preparation of an overview and encyclopedic book on the centenarians of Azerbaijan was also approved. Caring for the elderly, especially the long-livers of the country, has always been in the focus of the President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, and the preparation of a review book is a vivid embodiment of this attitude.
President Ilham Aliyev, a worthy follower of our great leader, approved the "Concept of the Demographic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan", which was developed on a scientific basis for the first time in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and determines the state strategy in the field of population density. The “State Migration Program of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was approved by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated July 25, 2006, and within the framework of this program, the State Migration Service was established by Decree of the Head of State dated March 19, 2007. On December 28, 2006, the National Human Rights Action Plan was approved.
With the adoption of the Constitution of independent Azerbaijan in 1995, the necessary legal basis for state-building was formed in the country. The concept of domestic and foreign policy of our country was established in accordance with international legal norms. Over the years, the process of state-building has been successfully carried out in Azerbaijan in all directions, the traditions of statehood have been enriched. The state independence of Azerbaijan is the greatest asset for every citizen of our republic. The restoration of the state independence of Azerbaijan is of exceptional importance in the life of our country. The victory we won in the Second Patriotic War, as well as various social-political events, the brilliant achievements of the Republic of Azerbaijan during the years of independence on the path of rich development, led to an increase in the demographic level of the population of Azerbaijan. Thus, along with socio-economic factors, the psychological state of the society in which we live today has a serious impact on demographic indicators and biological life expectancy in the country. The growth of the population of Azerbaijan and its continuous development in conditions of a high standard of living, well-being and security of citizens is a clear example of the continuous development of the Republic of Azerbaijan and its further prosperity in all spheres.
